一、Some good interview techniques:
(The interview will be in English for 30 minutes. When talking in English, please speak up and be confident. Don’t worry that you will make mistakes in grammar and pronunciation. No one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes.)
1. Introduce yourself in 2-3 minutes. So write down a few sentences that capture the key points of your background and practice saying it until you don’t need to look at the piece of paper.
2. Be ready to explain any point in your resume in detail.
3. Since you are not given the job descriptions by us and our partner, try to ask questions regarding to the skills requirements and performance expectation.
4. Be yourself, relax and answer questions directly.
5. Be calm. Do catch the key words in the question. If you don’t understand or not sure about the question, ask the interviewer to repeat the question or make some clarifications. In some cases, you may need to paraphrase the question to confirm with the interviewer on what he/she wants to know before answering the question.
6. Don’t just answer the question with a “Yes” or “No” response. Try to expend your answer around the subject matter to show your depth in the knowledge.
7. Don’t argue with the interviewer if you don’t agree with him/her. Be polite and open-minded. It is OK to disagree but don’t show it in an interview because people are not ready to deal with different opinion in an interview.
8. If you find out that your answer is not inline with the interviewer’s opinion later. Don’t try to correct it. Just smile and move on to other subjects smoothly and quickly.
9. Be positive even when asked about something odd like “How do you think of working overtime?” Just say you can handle it with flexibility. Some people may ask you for your strength and weakness. You should be able to tell them your strength. As for weakness, just say something which is not definitive. For example, you can say you always work hard until your family complains. To your employer, it is your virtue rather that weakness.
10. If you do not have the skill that is required of the job, don’t lie. Just say so but follow up with a statement like this: “I have experience with similar too/skills/cases. Based on my current knowledge, I am confident that I can learn the skill in a short amount of time because I am a quick learner.”
11. At the end of end of the interview, you are usually invited to ask questions. So please take this chance to show your interest in the job by asking a couple of simple questions. Questions regarding programming code quality and project deadlines are good subject matters to talk about. You can also write down a couple of questions before hand for this occasion.
12. Don’t ask about career path. The interviewer is not your manager and won’t care about that.
13. Don’t talk about compensation issue. It should be dealt with by us and our partner.
14. Don’t make bad face, show worry gestures, and express sign of tiredness.
15. Keep smiling throughout the interview. Show confidence all the time.
Some Normal Questions:
1. Would you please introduce yourself?
2. Would you please say something about your working experience on your project?
3. Have you ever experienced any successful or failed project? In your opinion what are the reasons of the success or the failure. 4. Could you tell us what your responsibility is in the project that you are involved in? What is your daily work.
5. Can you say something about your latest project?
6. What did you do in the project? Supporting? Maintenance? Or something else
7. Could you say more about DB2?(Including several basic questions, such as what is the difference between the locks you used in DB2. Have you ever used CLOBOL in DB2?) 8. How can you deal with the problem during the DB2 project, for example: when you see A, what should you do?
9. Have you ever done some high level design, collected request from the end-clients, or gone through all the design documents?
10. Do you have any questions about our project?
-----If you could not understand the questions:
A: Could you please speak slowly? /pardon me. /Excuse me / I am sorry. I can not catch your question. Do you mean XXXX?
-----If you could understand
A: Answer the question directly

8. If you find out that your answer is not in line with the interviewer’s opinion later.
